May Meeting @ Big Dog Running Co.

Dear biking friends -

Monday 13 May is the second of the month, hence you all will no doubt be planning to attend our next EACC meeting and were craving details of said event, which we are happy, if a bit belated, to supply. This month will bring an exciting topic to the fore, one of interest to many people in our area, that of triathlons. We will be hearing from Damon Grimes who will present 'Triathlons 101' - everything you need to know to embark on a journey encompassing, not one, but three forms of physical (and likely mental) duress for you to enjoy - all in a row. He'll be enlightening us with hard-earned advice on equipment and training that will, to the extent it's possible, ease your entry into the world of triathlons. If you've ever considered entering a triathlon but were unsure of what it would take to get started competing in them, this month's meeting is your chance to find out, and also tap into the local triathlete community. Not that we're lemmings or anything, but faced with a pool of freezing water at 5:00AM it never hurts to have someone else diving in ahead of you to motivate taking the plunge.

Speaking of plunges, there will be trainers set up at the meeting and anyone wishing to experience getting off a bike after a nice, thorough spin and setting off on a run can do so. I'm sure Damon will take it easy on us newbies and not comment on any shaky legs or wobbly gaits he might observe. Bring your bike/kit (running AND biking) and enjoy the sport of it all!

As if that weren't enough, we'll have time-trial news plus the Giro is in full swing and there'll be plenty of wagering, I'm sure, to pass the time. It's spring century season and we can get reports from those hardy souls venturing to far-away places to ride bikes. A month's-worth of things to talk about.

So, Monday at 7:00 PM we'll be holding our May meeting, but please note: there'll be a change in venue this month. We'll be gathering at Big Dog Running in the Glenn-Dean Shopping Center, NOT at Church of the Highlands.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend, and we'll see you Monday.
